Design is the vehicle that carries your message to your audience. It should, first and foremost, communicate clearly.

Whether it is a package design, a direct mail piece, a brochure, a catalog, or something on the web, my goal is the same: to produce clear and concise design communication, properly targeted to address the right audience, in the right way.

    Packaging
    Client: David Nedwidek
    Category: Digital Music Album Cover

David asked me to design a cover graphic for his new music release, with visual references to some of the imagery present in his lyrics. Extracting some elements from the title track, this was the result.

    Divine Providence Exhibit Poster

    Poster Design
    Client: The WaterFire Arts Center
    Category: Poster Design

    The Mission

These posters were designed to promote the "Divine Providence" exhibit at The WaterFire Arts Center. Having been to previous exhibitions of this series myself, I found that Umberto Crenca’s works generate a different impression when seen in mass. To help convey that experience in the first poster, rather than showing one piece selected from the very many, I chose to show 9 paintings. This basic design was adapted for use in RIPTA bus shelters, showing a different painting at each of 10 locations around the city.

    About the Client

Umberto Crenca is an extremely prolific painter of fine art, as well as being a performance artist, sculptor, and musician. The “Divine Providence” series has been exhibited in the past, but this is the largest show to date by far, featuring over 200 works.

The menu is adorned with “Divine Providence” paintings from the series of works by artist Umberto Crenca, whose work hangs throughout the restaurant. The menu was printed on waterproof stock that is very durable and can be cleaned without damaging the print or the paper.

    About the Client

    Divine Providence Book Set

    Book Design
    Client: Umberto Crenca
    Category: Book Design

    The Mission

Umberto had compiled a series of over 200 paintings of Providence. With these works garnering great success, he wanted to produce a set of books, showing 100 paintings in each, in the order that they were created. The cover features an embossed logo of his initials. Large, accurate color images of the paintings fill the inside, and an index of all the pieces closes out the works section of each book. The book set is contained in a black box with his initials on the front and back in charcoal gray. This painting series is ongoing.

    About the Client

Umberto Crenca is an accomplished painter of fine art, performance artist, sculptor, and musician. His work has shown in RI, CT, and Italy, and that was before he founded AS220 in 1985 where he served as Artistic Director until his retirement in 2015. His work appears in the permanent collections of Rhode Island School of Design and Newport Art Museums, as well as in numerous private collections in the US and abroad.

    Umberto Crenca Website

    Website Design
    Client: Umberto Crenca
    Category: Website Design

    The Mission

This website was to manage a massive volume of art that Umberto had compiled. Because of how prolific he is, this site could not approach being a full accounting of his works. The mission here was to present this selection of pieces in a way that gave the work its due, and provided relevent information about each piece to prospective buyers of fine art. It had to do this while working on both desktop computers and mobile devices.

    About the Client

Umberto Crenca is an accomplished painter of fine art, performance artist, sculptor, and musician. His work has shown in RI, CT, and Italy, and that was before he founded AS220 in 1985 where he served as Artistic Director until his retirement in 2015. Charity Boost Pocket Folder

    Pocket Folder with Insert Sheets
    Client: Champion Design Group
Category: Pocket Folder with Tiered Inserts

    The Mission

Champion Design Group wanted a professional presentation kit for marketing their Charity Boost program. Having done a few of these over the years, I suggested a folder design that has a slightly smaller footprint so it would fit in a file cabinet without binding against the frame, and that has a tab along the right edge to identify the company when it is horizontal in the drawer. Inside are 5 tiered inserts detailing the program.

    About the Client

    Category: Catalog Design

    The Mission

Some of the product packaging that Vic’s Import/Export offers in had changed, so in addition to shooting all new images, we felt it was an opportunity to update the look of the catalog. I thought it would serve them well to present both "abundance" and "variety" on the cover, given their wide spectrum of offerings. The inside pages use a ghosted background image of an antique map of the North and South American continent to address the import/export aspect of their business.

    About the Client
