The Mission

These posters were designed to promote the “Divine Providence” exhibit at The WaterFire Arts Center. Having been to previous exhibitions of this series myself, I found that Umberto Crenca’s works generate a different impression when seen in mass. To help convey that experience in the first poster, rather than showing one piece selected from the very many, I chose to show 9 paintings. This basic design was adapted for use in RIPTA bus shelters, showing a different painting at each of 10 locations around the city of Providence.

About the Client

Umberto Crenca is an extremely prolific painter of fine art, as well as being a performance artist, sculptor, and musician. The “Divine Providence” series has been exhibited in the past, but this exhibit at The WaterFire Arts Center was the largest show to date by far, featuring over 200 works.
